snare drum commandments

''prelude'' chapter:

this book should be called ''snare drum technique essentials that are most useful in praxis''. this is also its purpose. but i prefer the title "snare drum commandments" which basically means the same thing.

the book covers all the essential technical areas of classical (non-rudimental) snare drum playing. it is intended for daily technique practice. it is suitable for all levels of snare drum (or drum set) players, from beginners to professionals. the exercises are not arranged by level of difficulty, but by specific areas. choose the order that is appropriate for your current knowledge or interests.

the goal is to play a truly wonderful instrument, such as the snare drum, with fulfillment. but of course:

we can only reach freedom through discipline. when playing any musical instrument, the only way we can achieve relaxation in performance is through the best possible technique. we will then be able to feel the fulfillment and pass it on to the listeners as well.

and most importantly:

despite the fact that these are technical exercises, play them like short pieces of music, therefore musically. so don't practice but make music. there is a big difference.

this is the book of a lifetime. the possibilities for your growth are endless.
