the children's xylophone from the orff instrumentarium is not an orphan. it has a father. it is a professional xylophone that is played similarly and also sounds similarly.

the children's metallophone from the orff instrumentarium is unfortunately still an orphan. it does not have a father, a professional metallophone. it does have a guardian, an uncle vibraphone, but because of the added pedal and vibrato motor, he is played differently and also sounds differently than his nephew. so I took the vibrato motor and pedal from the uncle vibraphone, and I replaced the four vibraphone mallets with two rubber xylophone mallets. in this way, i created a professional metallophone and at the same time a father to the children's metallophone. it is played similarly and also sounds similarly.
